About Jan
Jan Stepanek
Jan was born in Pilsen in 1983 as the second child of Jindriska and Josef Stepanek from the old czech family. He spent most of the childhood in the Berk Estate (Northern Pilsen Region, Czech Republic) close by historically baroque monuments such as the Plasy Cistercian Monastery, Manetin Castle or place of pilgrimage Marianska Tynice. At first he studied Display Design in Pilsen and Prague, after Professional Art Teaching at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. In 2009 graduated as Master of Arts and worked in the Moravian Gallery in Brno as Assistant to Director Mr. Marek Pokorny. Now is studying Ph.D. at the Charles University in Prague led by prof. Mojmir Horyna (+ 2011) and dr. Zdenek Hojda and working for Rudolfinum in Prague. Besides the editorialization for ARtALK and Art & Antiques, is interesting in Art History of Northen Pilsen Region, Genealogy and History of Nobility.
